SCHOOL ENERGY CONSERVATION PROGRAMME BY TATA POWERS

A workshop on Energy Conservation was organised today for the  Middle Segment students by Tata Powers.
Students were shown an interesing & informative P.P.T on Energy Conservation followed by a short Quiz.
Students impressed with an enthusiastic response.

Some of the Questions asked & how they were answered by the students :

Q What is the first golden rule for energy conservation ?
Manpreet Kaur (8-A) : Switch off the lights when not in use.

Q What kind of bulbs should be used for energy conservation ?
Maluk Singh (8-C) : CFL

Q What is the full form of CFL ?
Prabhjot Singh ( 7-A) Compact Floroscent Light.

Q What is the full form of BEE?
Sanween Kaur (8-B) :The Bureau of Energy Efficiency.

Q Which day is celebrated as the World Standard Day ?
Ans 14th October

Later the students were asked to perform some activities as ENERGY CHAMPIONS & propagate
energy conservation-JIYO POWER SE !!

The students finally took a pledge to save fuel as ENERGY CHAMPIONS.

WORKSHOP FOR CLASS 12 STUDENTS

An interactive workshop for class12 students was organised by MANAV RACHNA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITYunder the aegis of TIMES OF INDIA. Students were exhorted to discover their potential & goals.Studentswere also briefed about personality development,stress,anxiety,anger& time-
management.Their queries were promptly answered.

RACE FOR SURVIVAL

WORLD MARATHON CHALLENGE 2012
“Every child has the right to health & survival but every four seconds a child dies from preventive causes.”

Students from classes  5th to 8th  gave trials on 12th Oct,2012 for the SAVE THE CHILDREN- RACE  FOR SURVIVAL  aimed at raising awareness of this injustice,and is organized by the children for the children.
Students ran for 200mts in batches of 5 and the 40 best were selected for the final – race to be held on 16th  Oct at  Laxman Public School.

INSPIRING YOUNG MINDS THROUGH KNOWLEDGE OLYMPIADS

To identify young geniuses in Science & Maths & to provide them with a unique competitive platform where they can prove themselves in the national as well as the international arenas, SOF  (SCIENCE OLYMPIAD FOUNDATION ) is organising Science and Maths Olympiad. These Olympiads are designed to encourage excellence in performance and felicitate young achiever students.

15th National Science Olympiad - 22nd Nov., 2012
Last Date for depositing Fees - 20th Oct.,2012

CHANGES IN NSO

For the National Science Olympiad there would be one common question-paper for both medical & non-medical students of classes 11 & 12.
The NSO paper would have 4 sections. Section 1 & 2 on Physics & Chemistry would be compulsary for all students. Students may choose between section 3 on Biology or section 4 on non-biology questions and answer as per their stream.
The above is expected tosimplify and stream line registrations of class 11 & class 12 students.

NOTE


*Each participating student will get a performance analysis Report highlighting his/her school,city, state & international rank and also past 3years'performance. Student's identified areas of strengths & weaknesses will also be indicated. This will go a long way in helping the student understand his/her weaknesses and work
towards overcoming them, leading to a better academic performance.

*One deserving girl child will be nominated for a scholarship of Rs. 10000/ to enable her pursue her education.

* Laptops, Cash Prizes, Educational CDs, Medals, Merit Certificates, Gifts and other exciting prizes for top performing students.

NASA ASTRONOMY OLYMPIAD (NAO)

ORANGE EDUCATION hosted NAO on 6th Oct in the school premises. 100 selected students from classes 5th to 8th participated. All children have extraordinary talents but they don't find the right platform to exhibit their zeal. Such programmes are organized by the school from time to time and we solicit parents' co-operation in encouraging children for maximum participation.

At the time of Examination result the child will be given
*Question wise performance report (QPR)
*Participation certificate for qualified student.
*A brochure for NASA TREK/EURO SPACE CENTER
*Gold, Silver and Bronze medals( for first three toppers )

Winners of this contest will go to NASA and runner up will go to Euro Space Center free of cost.

Exchange of Ideas at NIE Teacher's Knowledge Meet

Mrs Jagdeep Kaur Teacher-Incharge NIE ( Newspaper In Education Prog ) attended Teacher's Knowledge Meet organised by The Times Of India on 8th Oct. The prog began with a power packed Yoga-session followed by a seminar on Health And Nutrition In Schools.

A deep cocern was expressed by all over the dietary habbits of students. It is very important for all to understand that
 "Good Health is not just the absence of disease; it is a feeling of well being."
                                                       &
"Nutrition is ingestion, digestion, absorption & utilisation of nutrients for growth, development and maintenance of HEALTH."

Since students spend six hours in school, it becomes parents' foremost duty to give them nutritious food and they must have breakfast before they leave for school.

Why Breakfast ?

*feel less stressed
*lesslikely to be overweight.

What is an ideal breakfast 

*High in Protien
*High in complex carbohydrates

*Increase intake of fiberin your diet


*Take to regular exercise.

A Mid-Term Review Meeting of ISA activities was conducted on 8th Oct. under the aegis of British Council at Okhla. The same was attended by the ISA co-ordinator, Mrs Kanwaljeet Kaur & Miss Rubinder Gambhir, ISA committee member.
