TEACHER'S WORKSHOP 3-5 OCTOBER, 2016

MS MANINDER KAUR SANDHEY ATTENDED A THREE DAYS' WORKSHOP ORGANIZED BY OXFORD UNIVERSITY PRESS. IT WAS AN ENLIGHTENING AND INTERESTING INTERACTIVE WORKSHOP ON 'TEACHING PRE-TEENS' EMPHASISING ON ACTIVITY BASED TEACHING-LEARNING PROCESS.
POINTS DISCUSSED :-
*SINCE PRE-TEENS ARE NEITHER SMALL NOR ADULTS, THEY NEED TO BE DEALT BOTH WITH STRICTNESS AS WELL AS COMPASSION. LEARNING BECOMES MORE SERIOUS AND PHYSICAL CHANGES BEGIN TO APPEAR AT THIS AGE. SO IT BECOMES IMPERATIVE FOR THE TEACHERS TO MAKE THEIR TEACHING MORE ACTIVITY BASED SO AS TO CHANNELIZE THE BUBBLING ENERGY OF THE STUDENTS OF THIS AGE.
*WHILE PLANNING ACTIVITIES MANY ASPECTS SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF. PRE-TEENS FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE AMONG THEIR OWN GENDER.THEREFORE WHEN FORMING GROUPS, 2-3 STUDENTS OF EACH GENDER SHOULD BE THERE IN EVERY GROUP.PRE TEENS ARE INQUISITIVE. THEY SHOULD BE OFFERED ADEQUATE EXPLANATION AND NOT SNUBBED.
*WE DON'T LEARN BY EXPERIENCE, WE LEARN BY REFLECTION ON THE EXPERIENCE. IMPORTANCE OF THINKING AND INCULCATING IT AMONG STUDENTS WAS STRESSED UPON. CHILDREN ARE ACTIVE BY NATURE. THEY SHOULD BE GUIDED THROUGH ACTIVITIES SUCH AS CHANTING, WORD GAMES, BUILDING BLOCKS AND GROUP ACTIVITIES.
